Dr. Medina Sanchez was born and raised in Puerto Rico. He graduated from the University of Connecticut with a degree in Exercise Physiology. Upon graduation, he went on to study medicine at the Universidad Central Del Caribe in Bayamon, Puerto Rico and became a Medical Doctor in 2006.
Dr. Medina Sanchez performed an intern year at Hospital Damas in Ponce, Puerto Rico before completing a residency in Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation at Marianjoy Rehabilitation Hospital in Wheaton, Illinois. During his senior year of residency he was awarded the title of Chief Resident of the program. He then went on to sub-specialize in Interventional Spine and Pain Management at Florida Spine Institute in Clearwater, Florida.
Dr. Medina Sanchez specializes in the rehabilitation of musculoskeletal, neuromuscular, traumatic brain injury, spinal cord injury, and stroke patients. He has widespread training in orthotics and prosthetics, spasticity management, and electro-diagnostic medicine. His fellowship in Interventional Spine and Pain Management provided extensive training in all non-surgical spinal procedures, plus proficiency in diagnosis and treatment of numerous pain syndromes. His expertise also covers treating osteoarthritis of multiple joints.
Dr. Medina Sanchez authorized a musculoskeletal case study which was published in the Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation Journal and in the American Academy of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation online case program. He has also presented at the American Academy of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation general poster session.
Dr. Medina Sanchez is actively involved in nursing home rehabilitation for both long and short term residents. He works together with family members, therapists, social workers, psychiatrists, case managers, and dieticians to coordinate individualized rehabilitation plans.
