Amy O’Connor

Amy O’Connor, Exercise Specialist, has been employed with the Florida Spine Institute since 1991. She received a B.A. degree from the University of South Florida in 1985. Amy has attended continuing education for therapeutic exercise involving neural mobilization techniques, dynamic stabilization, strengthening programs, aquatic exercise, Pilates, Tai Chi, posture and balance training, as well as interventions for the prevention the treatment of osteoporosis. She provides patient education in appropriate body mechanics and ergonomic awareness for daily activities, as well as occupation and sport-specific (golf, tennis, softball/baseball, soccer, running, cycling, and swimming). She also possesses an extensive background in wellness programs and is very successful in transitioning patients from the rehabilitation environment to independent home or gym programs. Amy has been involved with the Scoliosis Association of Palm Harbor since 2002, presenting lectures on posture and body mechanics awareness as well as participating in fundraising events for scoliosis research.
